We have lost BARLAS TOLAN…

We lost Prof. Dr. Barlas Tolan, a sociologist who carried out pioneering research in urban studies, the founding Head of our Department, and one of the key figures behind the establishment and development of Galatasaray University, on Monday, 8 December 2014.

During his tenure as Vice-Rector of Galatasaray University between 1993 and 2000, Barlas Tolan played a unique role in the success of our University through the vision and dedication he demonstrated. Remaining a devoted supporter of Galatasaray throughout his life, our “Founding Head of Department” will always be remembered with affection, respect, and gratitude.

A memorial ceremony in honour of Prof. Dr. Barlas Tolan, to be organized by the Department of Sociology of Galatasaray University, will be announced at a later date.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, colleagues, and the entire Galatasaray community.
